Block climbing mat: the indispensable additional protection under the routes
The block climbing mat (often called a «sit pad» or «blanket») is a supplementary equipment designed to complement your main crash pad. Whether it’s a small format to secure departures in a seated position or a giant model to smooth out the space between several reception areas, these lightweight mats eliminate the stress of bad falls while being extremely easy to transport to the venue.
High-density foam, 100% % recycled materials and portable formats
Designed to withstand natural environments and the life of crew members outdoors, our spare pads come in a variety of sizes to meet all your needs in the forest:
- The «Plaster» model (Sitting departure & Mat): A compact format (75 x 50 x 3 cm, weighing only 0.6 kg) featuring 3 cm of EVA foam. Its «rug-like» top cleans your slippers, and its waterproof and seamless TPU bottom guarantees maximum durability.
- The Giant Model «Blanket» (Area Smoothing): An XL pad (150 x 120 cm) featuring a 2 cm layer of high-density recycled PE foam (feather weight of 2.8 kg). It is placed above your traditional crash pads to smooth the landing surface, or under a inflatable pad.
- Ultra-durable and eco-friendly cover: Our underlay mats use a 100% % recycled polyester outer coating that is capable of withstanding repeated rubbing against the floor, roots and dust.
- Optimized carry system: The giant model features an ultra-compact 4-fold system (75 x 60 x 8 cm), allowing it to be stored directly in the heart of your main crash pad for an effortless approach walk.

FAQ on block climbing mats
What is the main purpose of an auxiliary block climbing mat?
It has two main roles depending on the model. The small format (Plaster) secures the seated departures very low and allows you to wipe your shoes. The large format (Blanket) is used to cover the gaps between several large crash pads, thus avoiding twisting your ankle between two mattresses during a fall.
How to transport these spare mats to the rock?
Our carpets are designed for mobility. The large Blanket model folds into four to reach a very compact size (75 x 60 x 8 cm). Whether the large or small model, they are designed to slip very simply inside your main crash pad when folded over your back.
What is the thickness of the foams in the SNAP underlay mats?
The thickness is deliberately reduced to ensure lightness. The Giant Blanket pad incorporates recycled PE foam 2 cm thick to distribute impact and smooth out the area. The small Plaster pad uses 3 cm of EVA foam to cushion small impacts at ground level.
Why is the top of the small Plaster carpet made of a «rug» material?
Wiping your soles on this mat just before climbing helps to remove dirt, sand, or dust. This ensures better grip on the rock and prevents the natural grips from wearing out with dirty rubber.
